Ula and Särka, The Schlangen Menschen Pain-Proof Rubber Girls
Contortion-Duo Extraordinaire, travel the world doing shows
and fighting evil conformers. Defying the limits of the human
body by lying on nails, contorting their limbs to grotesque
extremes, and communicating with each other via their tele-patheticness,
this dynamic duo can warm even the coldest of hearts.
But these pain proof-girls weren't always the superhuman two
some you know today. Once upon a time, these two were actually
one... orginally from Mauritania, they were born Siamese twins
connected at the butt, to nomadic gypsies that roamed the
desert. Their happy childhood was cut short when at the age
of four they were sold to German scientists for 100 American
dollars.
After carefully studying the twins, the scientists decided
to disconnect their butts, leaving Särka the larger portion,
and put them up for adoption on opposite sides of the continent.
They were reunited at a fire-eater's pot-luck dinner. Ula
brought pita and Särka brought babaganoush. They recognized
each other instantly, formed an alliance, and their act was
born.
Since then, they have amazed and entertained people internationally
with their agility, grace, and charm.
2001 - Present: Särka now known as Jill Bonne, works
as a tattoo artist at State of Grace in San Jose, and Ula
carries on the Pain-Proof Rubber Girl tradition as a solo
act, with her bed of machetes, but the two are still connected
in spirit.
